Volunteer Activity: GRID Alternatives

The Humphrey Fellows volunteered for GRID Alternatives, a nonprofit organization that works to provide Muhammad GRIDrenewable energy technology, such as solar panels, to underserved communities. During their time volunteering, the Fellows installed a 4.5 kW DC system which is estimated to offset the homeowner's energy costs by 77%!

Humphrey Fellow Muhammad Ahmad (Pakistan) (pictured right) recalls that, "This volunteering opportunity helped me to understand the technical aspects of installing solar panels. Pakistan is in need of renewable energy technology because we experience energy blackouts constantly, so knowing how to install solar panels will be very beneficial for when I return to Pakistan."
